Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan who is recognized as the face of Indian cinema for the outside world celebrates his 49th birthday today.
Aamir Khan made his first silver screen entry with the superhit film Yaadon ki Bharat that released in 1973. He debuted as a hero with the film Holi but Qayamat Se Qayamat that released in 1988 was his first commercial success apart from fetching him the National Film Special Jury Award.
Known as an actor with profound social consciousness, many of the movies he has acted like Laagan, Rang De Basanthi, Mangal Pandey and have contributed for National integrity while his blockbuster film 3 idiots took a dig at the present Education system. He has also directed a film Taara Zameen Par in which he acted in pivotal role. The film which was the first film to speak about Dyslexia fetched him the Filmfare award for Best Director.
Aamir has also been a producer of many soulful films like Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, Peepli Live and Dhobi Ghat.
He anchors the famous Television reality show Satyameva Jayathe which opens up about the various problems faced by the oppressed and underprivileged.
Aamir has also associated himself with many campaigns for social causes like Narmada Bachao Andolan and Janlokpal movement spearheaded by Social activists Medha Patkar and Anna Hazare respectively.
