Review - Kadhal Solla Aasai (2014)

Debutant director KS Tamil Seenu's Kadhal Solla Aasai stars Ashok Kumar Balakrishnan and debutants Wasna Ahmad and Madhu in the lead. Produced by Emersiign Productions, the movie has music by MM Srilekha.
The movie opens to the Mankatha BGM and Ashok sporting a Police uniform - taking out some guy in an encounter, with Thala Ajith's famous dialogue - "Evalo naal dhaan naanum nallavan maadhiriye nadikkiradhu"... The next scene shows that all this was a dream by Mahesh's (Ashok Kumar Balakrishnan) friend Pasupathy. Mahesh is a youngster for whom nothing is going right in his life. Not wanting to follow in his father's footsteps and joining the Police, he has moved out of his house and is in search of a job. A fortune-teller looks at his palms and states that all good things in his life would begin after he sees a girl.
Accidentally, Mahesh and his friend come across a mobile, and in an attempt to impress the owner of the mobile - Suji (Wasna Ahmad), Mahesh also lands a high-paying job with her company's owner Ravikanth (Ravi Raghavendra). There is a threat on Ravikanth's life as he has taken up a project supposed to go to a local bigwig (Naan Kadavul Rajendran). The rowdy has decided to get the project at any cost and even kidnaps Suji. While going to office, Mahesh and Pasupathi witness an accident and help the injured person. Things begin to steadily accelerate out of control and when everything seems to be falling into place with Mahesh and Suji falling for each other, Mahesh sees a picture that blows everything out of hand. What picture does Mahesh see? Who is the mysterious man that Mahesh and his friend save? How does he affect Mahesh's life? What makes Mahesh go back to try for a Police job? Will Mahesh and Suji's love develop? Watch Kaadhal Solla Aasai on the big screens to know!
Director KS Tamil Seenu has given an innovative twist to a romantic story and presented it in an unique way. Ashok Kumar Balakrishnan is maturing as an actor with every movie and it shows in his performance as Mahesh. Wasna Ahmad impresses with her first outing itself, and has done a good job. Madhu has an impressive physique, and has played his part well. Veteran Ravi Raghavendra has breezed through his part. The movie has a slow first half with a racy second half and some gripping twists towards the climax. MM Srilekha's music is one of the biggest pluses for the movie, and adds quite a bit of flavour to the screenplay.
Kaadhal Solla Aasai is a unique take on love, presented in a fresh concept.
